Photosynthetic

Photosynthesis is the biological process by which light energy, usually from the sun, is converted to chemical energy in the form of glucose (sugar) and oxygen. Photosynthetic organisms are any organisms capable of performing this process. Plants, algae, and cyanobacteria are the only organisms classified as photosynthetic. The underlying principles of this efficient energy conversion reaction are exploited in various biotech applications, allowing glucose to be used as a green feedstock alternative in processes that conventionally rely on petroleum-based feedstocks.
