Biomass

Biomass is organic material derived from natural sources like plants and animals. It contains stored energy which is released as heat or other forms of energy when it is burned or processed. Biomass can be replenished over short periods (unlike fossil fuels) and naturally absorbs CO2 from the atmosphere, making it a form of renewable energy. Waste biomass refers to organic materials that are waste products from various industries or processes. Many emerging technologies utilise waste biomass to produce commercially valuable products such as animal free leather, polymers (e.g., collagen, keratin, gelatin), building materials, plastics, and beer.
